Emmys 2015: Best Dressed Favorites

The beginning of Fall means award season is official! There were so many beautiful dresses at last night's Emmy awards, and a welcome breath of fresh trends to set us up for the season: Embellishments, deep wine palettes, a very welcome return of black (let's be honest, white was never going to replace it), and... pants! Check out 5 of each of my favorite looks below.

Let's all exhale a massive sigh of relief that the almost-naked-embellishment look of the Met Gala didn't repeat itself. Enter: classic cuts, full coverage and unique embellishments and patterns. Jamie Alexander in Armani Prive, Kerry Washington in Marc Jacobs, Ellie Kemper in Naeem Khan, Naomi Watts in Dior Couture, Claire Danes in Prada.

Red carpets started looking a little too bridal for my taste in the past few years. Black is back and in classic silhouettes, modernized with asymmetrical shoulders and cutouts. Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell, Jamie Lee Curtis in Stella McCartney, Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Safiyaa, Amanda Peet in Michael Kors, Julie Bowen in Georges Chakra.

My two favorite kinds of wine: burgundy and rose! Loving the range of these ultra-fem, fall appropriate tones. Also... Maisie Williams is absolutely the cutest. Sarah Hyland in Zac Posen, Lena Headey in Zuhair Murad, Lauren Lapkus in ? (Does anyone know who designed this? It's so classic and stunning!), Joanne Froggat in J. Mendel, Maisie Williams in Ermanno Scervino.

Saving the best for last! Pants stole the show, I hope this is a trend we see more of on the red carpet. My favorite look of the entire night? Sophie Turner. It's different, youthful and so fresh. GOT girls FTW! January Jones in Ulyana Sergeenko, Carrie Brownstien in Stella McCartney, Sophie Turner in Galvan, Tatiana Mansley in Bouchra Jarrar, Kiernan Shipka in Dior Couture.
